Ubuntu Beryl vs. Windows Vista The Video
Bookmark on del.icio.us or FurlFor everyone who thinks that Windows Vista is prettier and has more eye candy than Linux should check out the Beryl Project. A fork of the Compiz project that came out of Novell, Beryl attempts to take the best visual bells and whistles of all the current desktops out there (windows, mac, other linux desktops) along with original enhancements to create the ultimate 3D enhanced visual desktop.
While this may be pretty much all appearance and cosmetics — who cares if you can browse your virtual desktops in a 3D cube if every time you try to create a document your computer crashes — it still does look nice and makes your computer more fun to use.
So for anyone who’s interested, check out the video below. This is a good comparison of the new features in Windows Vista vs. what can be done with Beryl (on Ubuntu Linux, in this case) and Linux. I think it’s also the first computer desktop music video I’ve ever seen!
