Run Linux Anywhere Off A USB Drive

For a while now, there have been entire Linux Distributions that have been designed to run off a bootable CD. This meant you could carry your Knoppix CD with you and pretty much run Linux on any computer that could boot off of a CD. Now, with the proliferation of USB Drives — it seems like all the geeks wear them around their necks — you can load an entire Linux Distribution on a USB Drive and boot from it on most newer computers.
There are good instructions on Linux.com on how to setup Linux on a USB Drive using Slax, a bootable Linux distribution based on Slackware.
USB Drives are faster and smaller than CD-ROMs and definitely alot easier to carry around. Plus, what else do you get for the Geek who has everything — a USB Drive preloaded with Linux that they can wear around their neck — the perfect gift!
