Critical zlib Vulnerability
Bookmark on del.icio.us or FurlA serious security vulnerability has been found in the zlib compression library found in most Linux distributions.
The vulnerability, a buffer overflow, could potentially result in the execution of arbitrary code. The buffer overflow could be exploited remotely.
While there is no official update from the zlib team as of yet, most major Linux Distributions have made available updated zlib packages that fix the vulnerability, including Ubuntu, Redhat, Gentoo, Suse, and Debian.
