Byteware Releases Native Version of McAfee Anti Virus for Linux
Bookmark on del.icio.us or FurlBytware has announced that they have released a beta version of StandGuard Anti-Virus for Linux, their anti-virus package for Linux on the x86 platform.
StandGuard Anti-Virus for Linux uses the McAfee Anti-Virus Scanning Engine and runs native for Linux on the x86 platform. It also uses virus definition updates from McAfee.
Since McAfee has their own anti-virus product for linux (McAfee LinuxShield), I’m not sure exactly what StandGuard Anti-Virus for Linux is — is this truly a different anti-virus solution that uses the McAfee scanning engine and virus definition updates, or is it just Bytware reselling LinuxShield under their own name?
If anyone has more information on StandGuard or has actually used it, let me know what you think.
